And now that hunting season is almost over and the ice is in, it's time to begin preparing Whisper and Kubbie for semi-retirement from dogsledding. This year, unless the trails are perfect, they will be exploring our trails as free running dogs and occasionally taking my grandchildren on adventures.
Whisper starts every journey at a 200m distance from Kubbie and I and refuses to come any closer.The day that I took this photo, I'm pretty certain that he may have had a brief encounter with a wolf, although I can't be sure. His bark was totally different than I have ever heard, and when he returned, his hackles were raised and he stuck really closely to me the rest of the walk.
I love the picture. I think it's probably one of the best I've taken of him.

The link finally worked! Sounds like a fun Christmas to me! We have fond memories of our Christmas spent at a work camp in the wilderness. We are looking to do something different this year too.
