Preparation for the hockey tournament tomorrow night began the other day and the crew was in full force today.
The kids has a blast hauling brush for the fire, shovelling snow, and sliding on the ice. The dogs joined in on the fun and were not a problem running lose at all, which is a huge relief for me.
Tomorrow night, we have a hockey match between with most of the kids that my children grew up playing with. Hence the purpose of the ice rink.Due to a shortage of skates and a lack of skill on some of our part, in skating, it may be a combo of boot hockey and ice hockey.
Matt found a "pirate treasure map" today and after we finished getting the rink ready, the kids had to search out the treasure.
Everyone had a great time. This winter is so amazingly warm and there is so little snow, playing with little kids, is easy.

It sounds like a great Christmas! The ice looks very smooth for a lake.
For most of the last week or so I have been running around in a polar fleece covered by a rain jacket. And I have been walking on green grass. My city buddies have been taking advantage of the fall rains (and the fact that they own drysuits) and paddling the rivers on the outskirts of TO.
Seeing the pics of you guys walking on the frozen lake and shovelling snow makes me shake my head. But then, you are 24 hours drive north and west from where I live.
After spending the bulk of the winter of 2012 on a cruise ship in the Vancouver Harbour, last winter was the first time in my life that I no longer cared for winter and was impatient for spring.
Looks like fun up there.
Have a Merry Christmas, and enjoy your holidays.
I post as anon because for some reason if I use my gmail address it posts as GA.

Ok you know how much I HATE frozen water. How think is the ice?
lol, you're such a chicken. At that particular spot, the water is frozen right through to the ground. But don't think for one minute that I'm not walking on frozen water all the time.
